How to unlock all skins in League of Legends

Chud is a free Windows app that unlocks the skins you don't own right in champion select. You scroll League's own skin carousel, and the skin you land on is the one Chud applies. This page covers the steps, what you will see, who else sees it, and the risk you are taking.

THE SHORT VERSION

Install Chud, lock in a champion, scroll the carousel.

Chud is a free skin unlocker for League of Legends on Windows 10 and 11. In champ select, skins you don't own show as unlocked in League's own skin carousel. Scroll to one and Chud applies it when the game loads. Scroll back to a skin you own and the client's own pick is used.

The skin is applied on your own PC through League Toolkit's signed patcher. Nothing is added to your Riot account, and nothing is bought.

STEP BY STEP

How to unlock all skins in champ select

  1. Install Chud. Download the installer (about 17.8 MB) and run it. Chud asks for administrator rights when it starts. It runs on Windows 10 and 11, 64-bit, and there is no account to create.
  2. Start League. Chud finds the running client by itself. On first run it downloads League Toolkit's patcher and checks for a newer one once a day. Open Settings, then Skins, and make sure Skins is enabled. The Skins tab only shows a notice while the patcher download is pending.
  3. Queue up and lock in a champion. Skin picking starts once your champion is locked, so there is nothing to do before that.
  4. Scroll League's skin carousel. Skins you don't own show as unlocked. Land on one and Chud applies it. Scroll back to a skin you own and the client's own pick is used.
  5. Play. The skin you landed on loads with the game.

The docs cover the same flow with the settings behind it.

WHAT YOU SEE

Unlocked tiles, a strip above the name, and your custom skins.

Locked skins show as unlocked

You don't open anything separate for this. The tiles you don't own simply look available, and the one you stop on is what gets applied. A short hint shows the first three times: "Locked skins work too. Click any skin to use it."

A strip above the skin name

It shows what Chud will apply. The moment you move to a skin you don't own it says Applying…, and once the skin is set it names it, for example Star Guardian Jinx. Chud confirms every pick and tries again if League's client was busy, so a pick sticks. The carousel also stays on the skin you chose while you browse.

For the skin you are on it lists the chromas and forms. A chroma swatch lights up the moment you click it, and the strip names the skin and the chroma. Locked chromas can also be picked from League's own chroma popup, the one you open from the chroma icon on the carousel tile: click a locked chroma, Chud applies it, the popup's ring moves to it and the strip names it. Chromas you own work as before. The strip has a Random button and a Remember switch.

  • Random rolls a random skin from what Chud can actually apply, and never the base skin. League's carousel moves to the skin it rolled, and the strip puts the word Rolled before the skin's name. The die on the button rolls through skin names while the roll is in flight.
  • Remember is a switch that uses your last pick again the next time you play that champion.

Favorites live in the app: star a skin there and it is applied every game you play that champion. A manual pick in a given game still wins for that game. The strip is a glass pill with a CHUD mark on the left and the skin name in serif, and a short word before the name says where the pick came from: Rolled, Remembered or Custom.

Custom skins in the same carousel

Tiles that have custom skins carry a badge such as ✦ 2 custom, which says how many are installed for that skin, and a row of them rises above the skin name when you land on one. The first tile in that row is No custom. They come from Chud's library of more than 2,000 community champion skins, which you can browse by champion in the skin library. The library also has maps, announcers and fonts. ModScan checks each archive before it is installed. It is a heuristic check, not a guarantee that a file is safe.

Chud's own panel

The panel still has maps, announcers, fonts and builds. Its Skins tab steps aside while the carousel does the work, and comes back on its own if a League patch changes the carousel.

WHO SEES YOUR SKIN

You do. Other players see your normal skin.

Skins are applied on your PC, so your teammates and the enemy team see whatever skin you actually own. The exception is a party. Members who also run Chud and turn on party sync can see each other's picks. Party sync does not make strangers see your local skins. How it works is in the party sync section of the docs.

IS IT SAFE?

No skin unlocker is ban-proof.

Riot's terms do not allow modifying the game client, and a skin unlocker changes how the client loads its files. Chud can't change that, and neither can any other tool in this category, whatever its download page says. Chud checks library mods with ModScan and applies skins with a signed patcher, which lowers the chance of a broken or malicious file. It does not change Riot's rules.

Vanguard also decides what may run next to League. A League patch can stop skins working until the patcher catches up, and Vanguard can block a tool outright. If you can't accept that risk, don't use a skin changer. The FAQ has our full answer to the ban question.

OTHER UNLOCKERS

Chud and Rose do overlapping jobs.

Rose is another open-source tool for unlocking Riot's skins. The two differ in how you set them up and in what else they include. A fair side-by-side is on Rose skin changer alternative: Chud vs Rose, and the wider field is in CSLOL Manager alternatives.

QUESTIONS

How do I unlock all skins in League of Legends?

Install Chud, start League, lock in a champion and scroll League's own skin carousel. Skins you don't own show as unlocked. Land on one and Chud applies it.

Is the Chud skin unlocker free?

Yes. It has no paid tier, no ads and no account. The source is published on GitLab.

Can other players see the skins I unlock?

No. Skins are applied on your PC, so other players see your normal skin. Party members who also run Chud and turn on party sync can see each other's picks.

Can I get banned for unlocking skins?

It is possible. Riot's terms do not allow modifying the game client, and no tool can promise otherwise. Read the FAQ before you decide.

Why did my skins stop working after a League patch?

A patch can change the game files that skins target, so skins can break until the patcher catches up. Chud re-checks League Toolkit's patcher once a day. An individual custom skin may also need a new version from its creator.

Does Chud work on Mac?

No. Chud is Windows only, for Windows 10 and 11.

Try Chud

Download Chud for Windows. It is free, and it asks for administrator rights when it starts. Read the setup docs first if you want to know exactly what it touches, or ask in the Discord.
